I think what makes a gift or a gift giver foolish is what type of gift it is. If a gift giver gives a gift that has no purpose. A gift would be foolish if it is used for nothing. In "The Gift of the Magi" Della cuts her hair to get Jim a band for his watch; but Jim sells his watch to buy Della combs. This renders both of the gifts useless.

I think that a gift giver is wise when theybuy something very special for the person getting the gifts, it doesn't need to be exspensive though. I think Jim and Della were foolish because they buoght gifts that were for the other's special object, but they sold both of their special objects to get them.

I think what makes a gift giver wise or foolish because you can buy someone an awesome gift that is worth something then you can buy a gift that is worth like maybe a dollar or less. I think Jim and Della were wise because because they were both able to afford a gift for each other.

I think what makes a gift giver foolish or wise if the person gives a gift worth something and has use in life, they are wise. If they give something that has no purpose or the person doesn't need it, they are foolish.

I think what makes a gift giver wise or foolish is that they are wise because that means you care about that person that you are giving the gift to. Della and Jim were wise because if they care about each other they would buy each other gifts to show how much they love each other. They both sacrificed there prize possession about themselves to buy a gift each for each other.

I think a gift giver is wise because they spend time and energy giving to other people. I think it is not wise because you might sacrifice to much to give a gift.

What makes a gift giver foolish is that when Della and Jim were giving their gifts, they weren't thinking. Della's cut her most prized possession which is her hair to buy a chain for the watch. While Jim sold his most prized possession which is his watch for combs.

What I think is that Jim and Della were wise because they both bought each other a nice gift, not a bad one. For Example, Jim and Della gave up all they had in order to buy each other a very nice present

I think a gift giver is wise when the gift is really well thought out and is very useful. In the short story "The Gift of the Magi" Della and Jim were foolish gift givers because they both sold their most important belongings to buy each other presents, and both presents were not very useful and not well thought out.

I think what makes a gift giver wise is when you give something that is usable and worth what you got it for. What makes a gift giver foolish is when you buy something not worth what its for and it doesn't have any special meaning or work into it. Dell and Jim were wise gift givers because they bought gifts that contributed hard work and love in them.

I think what makes a gift giver wiser is when the gift is useful, usable and is useful. What makes a gift giver foolish is when a gift is not used, not useful, or when it's worthless. Both Della and Jim were foolish gift givers because they both sold something that is very precious to both of them.

I think in the story a gift is a sacrifice a person made for you. In the book "The Gift of the Magi" Della gives one her her most possessed items she loved just to give someone she loves a gift. Della and Jim were wise to give each other presents because they both that meant they sacrificed something to give to someone.

I think what makes a gift giver wise is that sometimes they think and will ask the person what they want; a gift giver can also be fulish because they might just get the person a rondome thing. I think Della and Jim were both fulish when getting a gift because they could have just asked each other what they wanted so that they would not give each other gifts that they did not want or need.

A gift giver is foolish is when they don't ask I the person what they want and give them some thing that they might already have. but a gift giver can also be wise when they ask the person what they want so they make sure they don't give them something they don't want. Jim and Della were foolish becuase they ask what they wanted so then their plan ended backfiring.

A gift giver is foolish if they don't give a person a gift or if they give a grift with no effort into it. A gift giver can be wise if they ask the person if they want something or specifically what they want

In my opinion a gift can be foolish when someone already has that item. But a gift giver is foolish when they don't ask what that person wants. I think that Della and Jim were both wise because they gave up their most prized possession which shows that they really do love each other.

I think a gift is wise when it comes from the heart. A gift is foolish when it dose not come from the heart. Della and Jim were wise beacuse their gifts came from their hearts. The sacrificed so much to get a gift for the other person. That's why they were wise.

A gift giver might sell something that they need from the other item that they gave him. They were foolish because Della sold her hair and they gave each other something that they lost.

A gift giver is wise because they know it is better to give than to receive. Jim and Della were wise to give gifts and to do whatever it takes to get gifts for each other.

A gift giver would be wise when he or she gives a poor or homeless person food or a nice present. A foolish gift giver would be someone who gives a gift as a prank to trick someone.

Giving a heartfelt gift makes a gift giver wise is because they thought the present they got for their friends and family is kind and sweet and they would like it.

I think the theme of the short story, The Gift of the Magi is to think about other people or your loved ones more than yourself. I think this because Jim and Della sold something that meant a lot to them for a present for their loved one. "Will you buy my hair?" Della asks.(Pg 2). Della was willing to cut her hair off for a present. "I sold the watch to get the money to buy your combs." Jim says. (Pg 5). Jim sold his prized possession for a gift for Della.

The best theme of “The Gift of the Magi” is “better to give than receive” because if you give somebody a gift even if you are poor, that will show you are kindhearted, still care about giving a gift, unselfish, and it’s the thought that counts the most. For example, in the beginning of the story Della worked so hard only to get $1.87 for a present. Now that she has cut her most prized possession (Della’s hair) for $20 she spent that all to give Jim a gift instead of her own use. “Twenty-one dollars they took from her for it..” (Pg. 3)

The best theme of the "Gift of the Magi" is that love makes you do dumb things because they both went into alot of trouble to buy each other a gift for Christmas. "She found it at last. It surely had been made for Jim and no one else. There was no other like it in any of the stores, and she had turned all of them inside out." (Pg 3 Paragraph 1)

The theme of "The Gift of the Magi" is think before you act becuase I think you would need to ask someone what they want for Christmas before getting them something, becuase they may already have that item or your plan will backfire. The evidence is, "Cut it off and sold it," said Della. "Don't you like me just as well, anyhow? I'm me without my hair, ain't I?", (pg. 4 paragraph 5) and "For there lay The

For example, on page two, paragraph seven, Della asks, ""Will you buy my hair?" asked Della." and on page 5, paragraph eight, Jim says "I sold the watch to get the money to buy your combs."This shows that they really love each other so much gave up their most prized possessions to give a present to each other.

The best theme for the short story, "The Gift of the Magi" is, it is better to give than to receive because if you give something big, you really care for that person. Also Christmas isn't just about receiving what you want, it's about giving to everyone and being fair. In conclusion, Jim and Della really loved each other so they gave their most prized possessions for each other.

I think that the theme for the short story "The Gift of the Magi" is it is better to give than to receive because you could give someone something that they don't already have or something they need but you might receive something you already have or don't need at all. For example, the author states that," They invented the art of giving Christmas presents" (p. 5 par. 9), nd this is relevant because it tells you the they invented giving not receiving, receiving is just an aftereffect of the giving.

I think the theme of the short story "The Gift of the Magi" is it's better to give than recieve because receiving is the aftermath of giving. So if nobody gives gifts, nobody receives which makes the art of giving gifts useless. "They invented the art of giving Christmas presents." (Pg. 5)

What makes a gift giver wise or foolish is by how much the person spent on buying you the gift. No, Della and Jim were not foolish because they gave up the most important things to them to buy each other gifts.
