Today I read "The Teen Money Manual" by Kara McGuire. This book is a guide to cash, credit, spending, saving, work, wealth, and more. I learned about the tools I need to make smart decisions with money as I grow up. I chose to read this because I felt that it was important to learn early about the tips and tricks to a successful future. This made me think about how I can make my life a little bit easier.

I read "The Order of Phoenix" by J.K Rowling because I wanted to reread the Harry Potter series because my memory was starting to fade. I didn't finish it, but I learned that even if people make fun of you, just keep on going. That's what happened to Harry. I makes me ponder about all the times Harry was made fun of and all the times I was. I know that he must have had it harder than me and that makes me feel privileged, changing my life forever.

I had read "Hot Boat" by www.hotboat.net. I had chosen this particular book because I like boats and how they work. We used to own a boat and I loved it so this is just one of the hobbies I like to do and learn about. I learned more about how boats work and about a lot of the offshore races around the world that had taken place in 2000. While I was reading this magazine about boats I thought about our old boat and how it ran and how great it was of a boat.

Today, I read "A Clockwork Orange", by Anthony Burgess (for twenty minutes). I barely inaugurated reading this novel, and I am quite intrigued by it. I selected this piece of literature because it seems to trigger my curiosity, namely because of its partially Russian vocabulary. In the beginning of the story, I noticed that the protagonist and his acquaintances utilize some vocabulary similar to Russian that captures my mind superfluously (because I know some Russian). To encapsulate what I read, the story initiates with a teenager named Alex and his three friends at a milk bar. They consume a beverage called moloko (which is milk in Russian) that distributes them with a strange sensation. According to Alex, the moloko spikes their thoughts and abstractions, and makes them vidyt (to see/look in Russian) things very clearly. Eventually, they exit the milk bar, and they begin to walk on the street during a winter nochy (sort of like night or evening in Russian). While they were walking, they find a chelovek (person in Russian) with many books in his hands. Also, while searching for somebody, they spot some other lewdi (kind of translates to people), but they did not seem to be one they were attempting to find. To make things less confusing, they were trying to find somebody to assault (the milk really gave them an uncontrollable passion for what they called ultraviolence). Upon finding the person with many books, Alex and his friends (he called them droogs, which roughly translates to friends anyway) take the man's books and begin to deface them. Alex tries to razrez (cut) the book, then he attacks the man and causes him to bleed. That was where I left off. To tie it all together, I learned about the style and context of the story, realizing that it has a different tone than most novels. Most books's tones relate to something conveying much more placidity. However, this novel depicts a violent tone, but in a non-monotonous method. My emotions for this tone is ambivalent, but the fact that the story adds these kinds of life's aspects and the Russian language keeps me occupied while reading it. That is what I thought about for the first few pages of the novel, and it seems to be something I will continue reading.

I read a book called "Life as we knew it" by Susan Beth Pfeffer. I also read a latimes about Gene Wilder. First, I choose this book because I saw it on iBooks and it looked interesting and the LA times was because my mom told me about the news that Gene Wilder died and I wanted to know more about it. What I learned from the book was lots of things like if you don't want to do something that a person asks you don't do it and if you don't study you won't do well on your test. The LA times was I learned that life can be short so make the best of it. The book makes me think about how I should study more and if I do I can be great. The LA times reminded me of when Robin Williams died as well.

I read "A Visit Of Charity" by Eudora Welty. I read this short story because I wanted to read something from my great book and this one looked interesting. I learned that old ladies who live in the retirement hospitals don't have anything of their own not even a penny to buy candy. This makes me feel sad for the old ladies who live there because they don't have anything to care for or to have as their own.

I read "Gene Wilder Dies at 83; Star of ‘Willy Wonka’ and ‘Young Frankenstein’" by Daniel Lewis. I read this particular article because I am a fan of the original Willy Wonka. Instead of copied people on a computer software or program, I like the fact that the original Willy Wonka used real people to make the movie. What I learned while reading the article is Gene Wilder being in many more movies such as: Willy Wonka, The Taco Kid, and It's Frankenstein. Also, I didn't know he was a director, a novelist, and a screenwriter. It honestly surprised me because I thought he was just an actor. But digging more into research, learning more about Gene Wilder amazed me. What makes me think about this article is to join more into acting and see what life offers since Gene Wilder had a great experience as one of America's foremost comic actors.

Today I read "Mammals" by National Geographic. I read this for twenty minutes, the reason why I chose the book it because I wanted to pick out something I haven't picked out in a very long time and I could read it because the first time I did I was very intrigued by it. In the book it had many interesting images because it showed how the animals lived and survive in their habitats. The book helped me to learn that animals have to do anything to survive such as kill and care for themselves.

Today I read "Vanishing Girls" by Lauren Oliver for twenty minutes. I chose this particular piece of literature because I have been off and on reading this book and I would really like to get into it. Honestly, I really like the book and its concept. I learned some things abut divorced couples because the two teenage main characters's parents are divorced. Specifically, I learned that it can be embarrassing to confront your ex when you are recently divorced. This makes me think about all of the kids out there that have divorced parents.

i READ "Dead End in Norvelt" by Jack Ganots for twenty minutes today. I chose to read this because i am using it for my summer reading project AKA Tea Party. What happened in those 20 minutes, an old lady named Mrs. Hamsby has died of 'natural causes'. The next day an obituary was posted on the news paper and that day Jacks dad finished building the Plain and flew off fabulously.

Today I read The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. I choose to read this book because I read the first one of the Percy Jackson series for summer reading, and I want to continue reading the series. I learned that Percy Jackson has to go through something every summer this summer he had to deal with camp being messed up and everyone one fighting to save camp. It makes me think about if that will ever happen to us and that we will have to fight monsters and be very careful.

Today, I revisited one of my favorite books, "The Watson's Go To Birmingham" by Christopher Paul Curtis. This book was very unique to me because of its relatable characters and comedic dialogue. It is told in first-person point of view and explores one of the darkest times throughout history through a child's eyes. The story takes place during the time when racism toward African Americans was still very common. After finishing the book, and seeing the main character, Kenny, come to understand the harsh reality of discrimination for the first time, I was reminded of how confusing it can be for someone so young to witness such terrible things. It made me think of how much words and actions can really affect people. In our society today, things like racism, sexism, and ageism can be seen almost everywhere, even through a simple computer screen. It can be seen from all kinds pf people, including the younger generation themselves. After rereading the book, I feel I need to be more cautious of what I say and what I do to other people, especially if I do not know what they are going through.

I read an article in a Ranger Rick magazine called "Big Talkers" by Hannah Schardt. The article was about the various ways elephants communicate to each other. I chose this article because I wanted to know how and why elephants communicate to their family and friends. I already know that elephants are extremely intelligent creatures, but I did not know that they have an advanced vocabulary containing over 70 different vocal sounds. They can produce such low sounds that cannot be heard by humans. Although we cannot hear them, other elephants can hear them from miles away. This fascinated me and I was intrigued to find out more. Elephants can use body language and the sense of smell to communicate too. They use their ears as signs to show who is winning and who is losing in a battle. Elephants can use their trunks to smell what their friends' ate and if there has been a predator nearby. This article made me think how far some species have come in terms of vocabulary. Some species have amazing languages that are as complex as ours. Each species has a different language and even different dialects.

Today I read that Juan Gabriel, a famous singer has died yesterday. I choose this piece of literature because when I was little I would sing and dance to his songs. Today, I read the book "Smile" by Raina Telgemeier for twenty minutes. The reason I chose this book is because it is one of my favorite books and I can relate to it in a certain way. I learned that middle school can sometimes be a roller coaster, but instead of worrying about the next drop, you should just ride it! This book makes me think "What if I lost my two front teeth?" If I lost my two front teeth, I would be crying and would not look forward for any more procedures. I enjoyed reading this book for twenty minutes and I am going to keep on reading this book!

Today I read an article called "More than 300 reindeer killed by lightning in Norway" by Mary Bowerman from USA Today. I read that a lightning storm killed more than 300 reindeer in Norway on Friday. Norwegian Environment Agency has released photos of dead reindeer bodies across the mountain plateau. During the lighting storm, 323 animal were killed. Kjartan Knutsen told AP that in inclement weather reindeer huddle which may be the cause why so many have been killed during the weather. Knutsen added that it is common for reindeer to die from lighting, it is surprising to see a huge amount of reindeer killed. Even though the weather is harsh in Norway, reindeer keep coming to this area, at least 10,000. One thing that I read about the United States that has shocked me was that in 1939 in Utah, a case of 835 sheep died by a single lighting strike. I have chosen this particular piece of literature I wanted to know what was going on today in the news and plus I like animals, and it kills me to see an article that an enormous amount of animals have died. When reading this article, I have learned that animals can die or be in critical condition when stroked by a lighting. I also learned that Norway has a lot of reindeer and that they come together in inclement weather. Thought the article, it made me think, how can we reduce the percentage of reindeer being killed by harsh weather? Overall, the article was very information and will probably keep reading an article to get the details of the story.

Today the book I read is The Throne of Fire, which is the second book in the Kane Chronicles series. The book is about a brother and sister named Carter and Sadie Kane. Carter and Sadie are magicians who have the blood of ancient pharaohs. They found out that a giant chaotic snake called Apophis is going to be released in five days, which means the end of the world. So now Carter and Sadie have to find three scrolls which would make the Book of Ra, which (hopefully) would revive the Sun God, Ra, which would (also hopefully) help the Kanes and the other gods and goddesses to defeat the Chaos snake Apophis.

I read "Bronx Masquerade" by Nikki Grimes. I read this book for twenty minutes. I felt like reading this book.I ended up only reading four chapters in this book. There are 75 Chapters in this book.. I felt like reading this book because I like reading about black history and stuff to do with this kinds of topics. I learned from this book that some people may think that rap is bad and for gangs and stuff but, it shows me that it is some kind of poetry and it isn't bad. This makes me think about that Tupac was also a poetry writer and a rapper.

Today I read for twenty minutes "Between Shades of Grey" by Ruta Sepetys. I chose this particular piece of writing because I was really interested by the front cover and I also needed it for school. In "Between Shades of Grey" there is a girl named Lina Vilkas who lived in Lithuania until she and her mother and brother were taken away by Soviet guards. They were forced to work in labor camps. Since she was separated from her father and has no way to contact him, so she uses her art to pass on and hope that one day it will get to her father. I learned that during that time in the 1900s a lot of people were suffering with the Germans and now I feel what Lina and other people had to go through during that time.

Today I had the pleasure of reading my favorite thing, Baseball America. Baseball America is a newspaper that keeps you up to date with all of the news about baseball in America. My favorite thing to look at in the bible for baseball is the top prospects in highschool. Every month the writers come out with a new magazine and I get them delivered to home. I try my best to juggle schoolwork sports and the paper. My dream is that one day I can be in that paper as the number one prospect. Right now I thought it was interesting that one of the top non-pro prospects is a senior at Norte Dame highschool who can throw up to 98mph and has a mean breaking ball. Hunter Greene also plays shortstop and he's so good at both that he doesn't know what he wants to play when he gets drafted. Greene is truly a five tool player who's got it all and he's academically, a scholar. I saw Hunter play last year as a junior and he's a stud. Greene went 4-4 with two homeruns and a shutout pitching. I'm super glad that I got time to read this and I look forward to this assignment sometime in the future!

Such as argentum is silver and aurum is gold. I also learned that Frank, the third main character in the book, is from royal descent which adds to Frank's ability to hold any weapon and be successful.

Today I read chapter thirty of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (italicized) by J. K. Rowling. This particular book interests me because of just how magically captivating it is. Wizards and witches living in a world full of magic not far from ours, arriving at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and just having adventures with the famous Harry Potter. The chapter that I read, is titled "The Sacking of Severus Snape". In this chapter, I learned more about courage and bravery and how it is better to stand up for what is right than be a coward. This chapter makes me think about things in my life and how I can work on speaking up for myself and being bold. I aim to become a more courageous person because I know that this virtue will help me much in life.

The book I read for twenty minutes was The List by Siobhan Vivian. The List is about eight girls chosen chosen in the entire school, four are considered the prettiest in the grade and the other girls are considered the ugliest. The List is made anonymously and all "evidence" of who made it is futile. Abby Warner, chosen as the prettiest in ninth grade is overwhelmed about what her sister will think about her. Considering the fact that her sister, Fern, was chosen as the ugliest sophomore last year. Danielle DeMarco, ugliest freshman, is worried about how her boyfriend, Andrew, will take it. After the List comes out she is known as "Dan The Man" because she is very athletic and had broad shoulders. Candace Kincaid, ugliest sophomore, isn't ugly, but beauty isn't just skin-deep. Lauren Finn, prettiest sophomore, is a girl who was homeschooled and is keeping the List a secret from her mother. Sarah Singer, ugliest junior, doesn't really care, but she plans on ruining homecoming by not cleaning herself for a week and then attending it. Bridget Honeycutt, prettiest junior, is pleased with herself. Over the summer she lost weight, but now is struggling about eating, she is choosing to not eat to "stay beautiful", but it's killing her. Jennifer Briggis, ugliest senior, didn't care because she has been the ugliest in her class since freshman year. Margo Gable, prettiest senior, is proud and is interest about what her crush will think about her. In the end, it turns out that Jennifer Briggis wrote the List. I chose to read this particular piece of literature because it seemed really interesting and I was eager to find out who wrote the list. I devoured The List, it was funny and wise. Overall what I learned was that true friends don't care about how you look and not to place a label on anyone.

The book I have chosen to read for 20 minutes is the book I chose to read for the summer, Dead End in Norvelt. I chose this book because I thought the plot of the book and the aesthetic of it was appealing for me. When I read the book, I learned more about how to write exceptionally better and how to do world building in a novel. The book made me think about writing my own story and creating characters and a setting that will draw the reader into the story.
